GETTING STARTED
What you need to know
Adolescent therapy is a collaborative process. It is essential that teens receive continued support during therapy. There are a few steps before beginning. These help to get the most appropriate and effective benefits from the process.
Initial contact and Intake form.

You will be requested to complete an intake form online. This detailed form gathers essential information that will save time in appointments.

Parenting adults intake session.
​
This first session usually takes place with just the parents/adults responsible for the young person. The goal is to understand the concerns that are bringing the young person to therapy and prepare the relevant adults to support them. This session usually lasts between 45-60 minutes.

Therapy Begins
​
The young person will be invited to attend 50-minute therapy sessions at a frequency agreed during the intake appointment.
​
Review
​
Every 6/8 sessions', the responsible adults will be invited to attend a review appointment to discuss progress and share feedback. These sessions are useful to establish what further information/resources/techniques might provide additional support.
​
Joint Sessions
​
Occasionally, it is useful for the young person to share all or part of their session with a particular adult/family member. These are arranged as needed and when appropriate.
